Pension Scheme Administration Services

We firmly believe that clients should enjoy the level of service appropriate to their needs. Different standards of service will inevitably come with different costs. For all of our clients, we identify and implement the level of service that best suits their needs.

We understand that the key requirements for administration services are:

A dedicated “pensions administration manager” charged with responsibility for obtaining data from the participating employers and reporting any issues as and when they arise (thus taking all appropriate and required steps to avoid breaches of legislation and established scheme practice).

  • Excellent reliability – work carried out within agreed timescales.
  • Effective communication.
  • Quick and accurate turnaround.
  • Personal contact.
  • Flexibility.

We will deliver an administration service that meets all of these requirements from our integrated team in Edinburgh. Our service can be provided on a time-spent or fixed-fee basis depending on the client’s preference. We are committed to providing our clients with quality and value for money. We provide a high quality service by using a team of specialist and experienced professionals, following rigorous and risk-managed techniques, and by sensible application of technology. In addition, our low cost base in Edinburgh allows us to provide this service at very competitive rates.

Actuarial Services

cprm provides a comprehensive and integrated range of services to companies, trustees of defined benefit pension schemes and private individuals. We have a considerable wealth of experience to draw upon when providing such a wide range of different clients with excellent advice at the right time. Our prime objective is always to use our actuarial knowledge and expertise to support our client’s commercial success and development. We have developed innovative solutions for many of our clients to this end and would be delighted to provide a list of references in this regard. We also believe it is vital to maintain a close working relationship with our clients through face-to-face meetings where possible as, in our experience, this provides the best chance of understanding our clients’ needs and ensuring our services fit with these needs.

Our range of services includes:

  • Full compliance with existing UK legislation for Registered Benefit Schemes.
  • Advice regarding benefit design and factors for such schemes.
  • Advice regarding unapproved benefit arrangements for both companies and private individuals.
  • Advice regarding forthcoming legislation and judicial rulings affecting pension provision.
  • Pension scheme accounting in corporate accounts (see our Accounting Services page for further details).
  • Advice on scheme restructuring, funding, standard transfer values.
  • Advice regarding enhanced transfer values and the interaction with FSA requirements.

We also provide advice on subjects as diverse as equity-release schemes and with-profit analyses.

Trustee Training

Pension scheme trustees face greater scrutiny now more than at any other time in the past, brought about by the requirements of the Pensions Act 2004 and those presented by Tax Simplification. In addition, trustees need to satisfy the Trustee, Knowledge and Understanding requirement from April 2006 under one of the Codes of Practice issued by the Pensions Regulator. These are very onerous requirements and our trustee training packages are designed to ensure our clients achieve the required level of knowledge, skill and competence in this field and so demonstrate that they are fit to hold the office of trustee.

Our training packages can be tailored according to the subjects our clients wish to cover, the depth of the material they wish to cover, the existing level of knowledge and understanding. This ensures our training is targeted and cost effective.

Our training courses can be run either at your offices or at some other convenient location. The broad content of each training course is agreed beforehand with clients and will usually consist of:

  • presentations by one of more of our consultants,
  • role-play scenarios and,
  • multiple choice question and answer sessions.

In addition, delegates are provided with information packs containing all the material covered during the training together with summaries of background supporting information. We also encourage active question and answer sessions to ensure delegates understand the topics at hand and, if so requested, can organise and run short written tests to help re-emphasise headline information.
